The story explores the possibilities of family’s role in protecting the members from external and internal problems. In addition, the writer tires to follow the feelings of the central character (Gregor), who is deserted by his family. Still, this negative attitude towards the function of a family is the main reason behind the conflict in the novella. Besides, the author proves that human beings ignore the moral aspects of relationships. One can see that the main character’s metamorphosis alienated his family from the mainstream society.
